Got my Mac Pro Misc. (posted at 5:05 PM by Philippe Martin)

I received my Mac Pro yesterday, thanks to the company I work for, and I have to say that I love it! It's super fast, of course (takes only 30 seconds or so to boot and applications launch instantly), but I think what I like the most is how incredibly quiet it is. Basically, my external FW drives are noisier than the Mac, now. The difference with the QuickSilver it replaces is just amazing. Like night and day.

And the Cinema display is amazing too. Since I've got it, my other monitors (which seemed perfectly fine to me) have suddenly become awfully dark and yellowish.

Some specs, just to show off:

  • 2.66 GHz
  • 2 GB memory
  • 1 160 GB drive
  • 1 500 GB drive
  • 1 SuperDrive
  • 1 ATI Radeon X1900 XT
  • 1 Cinema Display 20"

Now you can hate me. ;->

BBEdit 8.5 Software (posted at 8:17 PM by Philippe Martin)

BareBones Software just released BBEdit 8.5 which, quoting BareBones, includes nearly two hundred new features, refinements and user interface improvements.

The greatest one IMO is the Code Folding feature that allows to collapse whole blocks of code like in outlines. I've dreamed of using outlines in Xcode for long (blame Frontier for that), and BBEdit is the first solution that comes close to it. I've been using it for some time and I love it.

There are many other great new features and this version is definitely a must for every BBEdit user (time to upgrade your license, Nico! ;) ).

Congrats to everybody involved in that release (that includes Seth)!

Seasonality 1.4b1 Public Beta Software (posted at 11:02 PM by Philippe Martin)

Seasonality 1.4b1 public beta is available to download.

This version has an implementation of the new GFS forecast, which provides forecasts for locations worldwide. If you are using Seasonality outside the U.S. or Canada, this is the version you want. This release also has a new moonrise/moonset ring and displays the moon phase.

Nice to have the forecast back! And the moon additions are very cool. Well done, Mike!
